1814 Common Rifle (516 A)
In a flurry for rifles, Michael T. Wickham was ordered to design a rifle, that had a full stock and was easier to produce than the 1803. He used a French style lock and hardware with the 1803 barrel. The finished pattern was sent to Derringer with a contract for a thousand rifles. Then one of Derringers rifles was sent to R. Johnson with a contract for a thousand rifles. This was the last U. S. Rifle to have a cheek piece, and the first to use a sling. Both guns share many of the same parts. The 33" octagon to round barrel is available in .54 caliber.
