1706 Dutch Musket (552)
These early Dutch muskets were used extensively by the British, their first purchase was for 10,000 in 1710. Literally thousands of Dutch muskets were shipped to colonies from the early 1600’s up until after the Revolutionary War and you see many of these locks on American Colonial weapons. They are very slender for a military musket. It has a very nice round face lock that is seen on a large number of early English Carbines and Muskets, as the British purchased large numbers of these locks to be used on weapons stocked in England. It is an all steel mounted musket with a very long tang on the butt plate. These guns were made in both 42" and 46" barrel lengths, and were in .77 caliber. The lock plate measures 6 1/4" x 1 1/4". The throw of the cock is 1 3/4".
