This model was officially introduced for use in 1769, for the British Infantry. This was Basically and adoption of the Short Land Pattern for Dragoons with the exceptions of the ramrod pipes and steel rammer. It is similar to the 1755 with the exception of it’s 42" barrel and new butt plate tang shape. Locks were large 1755 pattern with the single screw showing behind the cock until 1777 when the new smaller lock was adopted which has two screws showing behind the cock and the new flat sided comb on the cock. The flat side plate was adapted in 1775. In 1779 there was a new flared 2nd thimble adapted called the Pratt thimble. Please specify which type of lock you have when ordering parts for original guns. The barrel is 42" tapered round, in .75 or .77 caliber. Our Short Land stock pattern is set up for the early large lock and hardware as we believe it is doubtfull that any of the later patterns chould have been used in the American Revolution.
